    Love your videos. I'm going to make a Charging station for Phones, Tablets, Elect Dog Collars etc etc. My idea is to make a box to hold the chargers inside, have holes or slots for the cords then individual slots for the phone or whatever. But I want to hang it on the wall with a french cleat so I can easily get to the inside of it to change chargers around. This will be in our laundry room off the kitchen so it has to look nice. Any ideas?

    Both appear to be built for different use cases. A dedicated woodworker would likely be happier with the Jet; however, the hobbyist / DIYer will do well with the Harbor Freight. Is the Jet 10 times better than the Harbor Freight? Not sure I got an answer to that question.

    Great build, Daddio. The only thing I would do differently is add dovetails to connect the bottom, which you didn't do. They would add way much more strength to the bottom, and when carrying heavier tools, as I used to do as a commercial carpenter, a fallout would never be a consideration. Look forward to watching the timber frame build.

    If I were doing professional woodworking I could justify spending that much on a sander as it would see a lot of use. As someone who only uses a sander maybe twice a year on projects around the house I'd be more inclined towards the cheaper one (In fact I bought a WEN version of it) for simple economics.

    I think you still should have purchased the larger one at Harbor Freight, which is exactly like the one you got from jet, but it’s half the price that would have been the one to get and compare it to that would be apples to apples now yes I understand that jet is still going to be a lot nicer than the Harbor Freight. I mean it cost $300 more but you also get a stand with it and it sits on the floor and it’s up as high as your desk so you know that in itself is handy and you have a one horsepower motor but like I said, the jet is still going to be a better belt center, but you could have a betterway of comparing them

  • @e-racer4673
    @e-racer4673 2 месяца назад

    Why didn’t you get the same size as the jet? You got the small belt sander? Harbor Freight has one just like the one you purchased and it comes with a stand and it’s only $300. That way you could’ve been comparing apples to apples instead of apples to a grape.

    Could you route, saw, or plane off 1/2” of the top horizontal surface and then attach a correspondingly thick “replacement” ply of oak to attach as a “topper,” permanently marrying them together, drilling all the aligning “mole holes” for the dogs? I believe, with plenty of glue, you would have a solid 1/2 oak veneer top, but still have the heft, density, and sturdiness the y-pine offers from beneath right? Honestly, if I ever build one I think I would do that on purpose because in my mind the joining of the y-pine from beneath the oak at 90 degrees makes me feel there would be added strength and might prevent the softer pine membrane from warping, twisting or bowing over time do to the right angle competing tensions of the y-pine and oak’s grains.

    If you use hard wood for the top it will get dinged up, it will just take longer and will be harder to plane out. I built mine like a joiners bench with holes on the side for pegs. That way you can put the end of the board in the end of the vice and lower it to the right height for you.!
